Manufacture Chodov
Manufacture history
One of the oldest porcelain manufacture Chodov in Czech, was established by the owner of Chodov manor Frantisek Meisl, which got license to produce stoneware from his own kaolin deposits in the year 1811. Already in the year 1830 he rented his company to F. Weiss, which was the main porcelain painter in Kysibl (Stružná). But F. Weiss did not reach any success and he sold porcelain manufacture Chodov to rich owner of coal mines Jan Dietl, which with his partners J. Huttner and J. Schreyer established company Huttner et. Co.. License to produce porcelain ware they got in the year 1835.
After the year 1840 bought the porcelain manufactory Saxon doctor (Dr. Geitner), which her sold after 5 years to Prague´s manufacturer Moses Porges von Portheim. Portheims extended the manufacture and ensured growth of production. After 30 years, in the year 1872, they sold the manufacture to company Haas and Čžjek at Horní Slavkov. This firm ensured the next business success.
After the privatization in 1994, the porcelain manufacturer Chodov became one of the six manufacturers of the joint-stock company Karlovarský Porcelán (Karlsbad porcelain), the leading manufacturer of porcelain tableware in the Czech republic.
The current production consists of pink, handmade and decorated porcelain,
gilded with 24 carat gold. Contrary to some manufacturers using rose glazing,
the Chodov factory add color to porcelain mass, which is than covered by
